INITIAL ADMISSIONS
Parents of children due to start school receive a voucher from the Local Education Authority (LEA) and a booklet explaining the admission process, usually in October of the year prior to their start.
Parents are then encouraged to make their choice of school and send the relevant forms, found in the booklet, back to the LEA by January 31st.
In April parents will be informed of the outcome of their application
If your child’s 5th birthday is between September 1st and February 28th (29th) your child will be admitted in September; if his /her 5th birthday is between March 1st and August 31st the admission date will be January.
At Abbey Lane we encourage you to look round the school before making your final choice to make sure it is the school you would like your child to attend and one whose policies you feel able to support.
When you have secured a place here we will write to you to let you know of visiting arrangements prior to your child starting. These usually consist of two half-day visits for you and your child and a social visit to a Christmas play or summer sports day. Additionally, our own staff will try to visit all children in their pre-school setting before they start with us, to get to know them in familiar surroundings.
Importantly we hope to meet all of you before your child starts and again, soon after, in order to establish firm partnerships between staff and parents from the outset to share ideas and knowledge for the well-being and positive development of your child.

OTHER ADMISSIONS
Please contact the school initially to establish whether or not there is a place available in the year group you need. If there are vacancies in any year group other than Reception we will probably be able to admit at any time during the year, providing your child does not have a particular special need that the school would be unable to cater for.
For all school enquiries please use one of the methods of communication shown on the school details page of this prospectus.
