INSPECTION REPORT
May 19th 2006
Dear Parents / Carers,
I am very proud and pleased with the Ofsted inspection report outlining the findings of the inspection team when they visited our school on May 3rd & 4th 2006. (You can now access the report via the link above.)
Previous reports used 7 grades to judge aspects of the school’s development but now there are only 4 - Outstanding / Good / Satisfactory and Inadequate. (A judgement of ‘Outstanding’ overall is normally only given to schools whose results are in the top 5% nationally.)
Abbey Lane School was judged to be ‘Good’ overall with ‘Outstanding features’. That is absolutely brilliant and shows what superb practices and attitudes there are here. Of the 26 graded judgements all were good or outstanding! Excellent!
We have received many congratulations from officers in the LEA and from other schools who recognize what a wonderful and well deserved achievement this is.
I particularly want to thank all those parents who sent their questionnaires in to school to give what the inspectors said was unusually high praise (98% highly positive responses) for the work the school does. The depth of your commitment to the school was acknowledged to be a major factor in its success: this is ‘a justifiably highly regarded school’.
I also want to thank all the children for the way they responded to the inspection process when asked questions by the team and for all their efforts throughout the year:
´Pupils´ attitudes are very good and they greatly enjoy coming to school. Behaviour is excellent´
If you have any questions about the inspection process or would like further information about aspects of the report please contact me via the usual methods or put your comments on the website.
Congratulations to everyone!
Yours sincerely
Susan Lee
